How to reset my RightWON unit to factory default settings?
Two-states ‘Reset to factory default’
In some circumstances, a RightWON unit must be reinitialized to a previous known state. This normally happens after a bad configuration is sent to the device that makes it unmanageable. Two known states can be restored:
· A “persistent application” (also called “golden application” in some other equipment). This is a version of the application that was tested to perform correctly. This “persistent application” is manually stored in the RightWON when the application development is completed and tested;
· A virgin RightWON configuration (also called “complete reset”), without any application but with some default values (like IP address).
The first state (restoration of a ‘persistent application’) is done by executing ONCE the ‘reset to factory default’ procedure of the next section. This will restore the “persistent application” in the RightWON (the current application will be erased). It will also clear the customization file but keep the logs and certificate file.
The second state (‘complete reset’) is done by executing three (3) times in a row the ‘reset to factory default’ procedure of the next section. This will wipe up the RightWON current and persistent applications, logs and certificate file.
Please be advised that the ‘reset to factory default’ procedure, to return to either states, is definitive and irreversible.
‘Reset to factory default’ procedure for RightWON Satellite and Engine
1. Unplug the power supply of the RightWON
2. Using a small thin object, such as a paperclip, press the reset button. It is located on the lower left side of the front panel of your RightWON Satellite. Please refer to your particular RightWON Engine hardware manual for the location of this button.
3. While keeping the reset button pressed, reconnect the power supply.
4. After around 10 seconds, release the reset button and let the unit start. This can take up to 3 minutes.
Remember that the application, including the IP address of the Ethernet ports will probably have changed.
‘Reset to factory default’ procedure for RightWON Plus
1. Unplug the power supply of the RightWON Plus
2. Press the ‘User-1’ and ‘User-3’ buttons simultaneously.
3. While keeping both buttons pressed, reconnect the power supply.
4. After around 25 seconds, when all LEDS turn off except the blue power LED, release both buttons and let the unit start. This can take up to 3 minutes.
Remember that the application, including the IP address of the Ethernet ports will probably have changed.
Effect of the ‘Reset to Factory default’ procedure:
1- If no persistent application has been defined, the ‘reset to factory default’ procedure will execute a ‘complete reset’, clearing the project application, customization, logs and certificate files.
2- If a persistent application has been defined, performing only once the ‘reset to factory default’ procedure will execute a ‘partial reset’, clearing customization, logs and certificate files. Then the current application will be replaced by the persistent application in the RightWON unit.
3- If a persistent application has been defined, performing the ‘reset to factory default’ procedure 3 times in a row will execute a ‘complete reset’, clearing project application, customization, logs and certificate files. The existing persistent application will be erased and a new persistent application will have to be defined if needed.
How to add a communication protocol such as DNP3 slave or IEC 61850 client in my RightWON unit?
Communication protocols are added and configured using the RightWON Configuration Suite software. However, to add a communication protocol in a RightWON unit, a license number will be required. Without this license number, it will not be possible to add a protocol.
